Idea of the month : November, a children’s coat rack.
Necessary materials :
<!--[ A MDF plank, about 60 x 120 cm
<!--[ Paint for wood, different colors
<!--[ 6 champagne corks (or wooden handles !)
<!--[ A saw and a drilling machine
<!--[ Light cardboard of thick paper
Explanation:
Start by preparing the models on paper or cardboard. For example, 2 butterflies (large and small) and a flower. Copy all the shapes a few times, while alternating and getting them to slightly overlap. It has to be a whole, however you need to be able to saw and then remove the redundant small parts in between. You can for instance start with the big butterflies and complete later with the other shapes.
Saw all around and in between (start then first by drilling holes in order to be able to place the saw) to remove the redundant parts.
Choose your colors, here pink, blue, yellow and purple. You can see that I have 2 daughters…
Once you finished the sawing (and if necessary the sanding), go over it with the pencil to delimit the different shapes, each time deciding which comes on top.
Paint the plank, one color after the other, while waiting enough in between the colors. Don’t forget to paint the corks (or handles) that you will then fix to the plank via the backside.
If you need more details or if you wish to use the same shapes than I did, please send me an email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and I will help you !
Good luck…
