Idea of the month: February-March, a lamp from drift wood.
Necessary materials:
<!--[A piece of thick wood, here about 20 x 20 x 3,5 cm
<!--[Pieces of drift wood
<!--[A lamp-shade
<!--[A drilling machine
<!--[Screws and wooden pins
<!--[A piece of felt
Explanation:
Last summer we found some drift wood when walking alongside the Rhine river, so we took it back with us. A few weeks later, our daughter broke a lamp in the living room, so it gave us the perfect excuse to use the drift wood!
You first have to assemble the different pieces of drift wood together. We used for that wood glue and some wooden pins.
Then you need to fix this set to the base. In order to do that you should first saw it so that it can stand straight on the base, then you need to make holes in the pieces of wood and in the base, so that you can screw the pieces together via the underneath of the base.
You also need to make a hole in the base, to get the electrical cable through it and then underneath to the side of the base. When it’s ready, to make it neater, you can cut a piece of felt the size of the base, en glue it underneath with textile glue so that you don’t see the screws and the cable.
I realize you need to be a bit experienced for this DIY idea, so don’t hesitate and send me an email if you need more details ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and I will help you !
Good luck…
